Vasco vs CS Alagoano for the Brazilian Serie A championship match on Sunday at São Januário Stadium.
Vasco and CSA meet on Matchday 13 of the Brasileirão at very different stages from both teams with Vasco arriving in good form after turning over the poor results at the start of the year, while CSA continues to experience a tough moment occupying the penultimate position of the championship.
Vasco da Gama
Vasco has been improving a lot under Vanderlei Luxemburg, the team was one of the favourites to go down after the start of a fragile season but since the arrival of the new coach the team has improved a lot and after a series of good results breathes a lot better.
Today Vasco returns home to welcome CSA after a big draw at Palmeiras, an outcome few expected. Vasco have a great opportunity today to add three more points and get closer to the places of access to next season’s international competitions but for that they will have to maintain the excellent level shown recently to be able to beat this CSA which despite not being one of the strongest teams will try to complicate the game as much as possible.
At home Vasco is always a very difficult team having here a record of 3 wins 2 draws and only one defeat, these three wins have been in the last three matches, thus reaching here the possibility of increasing to 4 the number of consecutive victories.
The CSA has not had a comfortable life in this climb to the first level of Brazilian football so far only added 6 points, one more than the last Avaí. In the previous round, CSA got a home draw nill against Gremio thus ending a sequence of 5 consecutive losses.
Away from home, it has been the main problem of CSA who has an abysmal record of 1 draw and 4 losses. They haven’t scored any goals and conceded already 11.
Today the opponent is again powerful, so the team should have difficulties since even against more accessible opponents went bad as Ceará when they lost 4-0 and when they drew 0-0 at Avaí.
Everything points in this game for another victory of Vasco but the only thing that leaves me standing behind is the fact that the game is not played in the usual stadium of Vasco. Still, I believe in a comfortable victory with a possible margin of more than one goal difference.
