Three spots for the NFL playoffs are still open in the 18th week of the regular season, and seven franchises are running for it: Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and New Orleans Saints.
Four of them will go home, and the other three will join the list of the 11 already clinched: Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Las Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, and Philadelphia Eagles.
If the season ended today, Indianapolis, LA Chargers, and San Francisco would make the playoffs, but how they have the last round on Sunday, we will wait to see. Take a look at each team’s situation and what they need to do to celebrate the result.
In the National Football Conference, two teams run for one spot in the Wild Card: 49ers and Saints. Both come from a victory in the last week. San Francisco is on the hunt and in a more comfortable situation.
The 49ers have nine wins and seven losses and clinch playoff berth with at least tie the game against the Rams in Los Angeles or root for NO loss their game if they don’t win. They will be the third NFC West team in the postseason if it happens. On Bovada, Los Angeles Rams have xx -210 to win the game.
The situation is the hardest in the American Football Conference since five teams run for two spots: Colts, Chargers, Raiders, Steelers, and Ravens. Indianapolis and Los Angeles are 9 – 7 on the season and are in the hunt, which would give them the last spots if the season finishes today.
To confirm the postseason, the Colts need to win or tie with the Eliminated Jacksonville Jaguars, but also have other two possibilities: root for LAC loss and Baltimore and Pittsburgh tie, or the Chargers and Steelers loss, and Miami wins. On Bovada, Indianapolis Colts has -1100 odds to win the challenge.
The Chargers clinch playoff berth defeating or tying with the Raiders. Talking about LV, they need to win the game or tie and support for Indianapolis loss, or in the last case, support for the Colts loss and Pittsburgh loss or tie. In the Las Vegas and Chargers match, Los Angeles Chargers is the favorite and has -165 odds.
With 8 – 7 – 1 in the season, the Steelers clinch playoff berth defeating Baltimore. Despite the win, they still need the other two results: Indianapolis loss and Las Vegas vs. LA game does not end in a tie.
Baltimore has the more complicated situation and needs to beat the rival ahead + Chargers and Colts loss + Dolphins loss or tie. On Bovada, Baltimore Ravens is the favorite for this game, with -240 odds.
