With a 2-1 win last week, on August 20, against the Galaxy in Los Angeles, San Jose Earthquakes completed ten unbeaten streak games at the MLS. This streak is the current record among the other 26 teams and loses just for the 13 streak games from Seattle Sounders. Will the Quakes improve the series? Let’s wait and see.
San Jose would stay away from the playoffs despite the good series if the regular season ended today. With 26 points in 21 games, they are in ninth place from the Western Conference, the same number from Vancouver Whitecaps, and one point behind Real Salt Lake’s seventh-placed.
Only in the last 10 matches, San Jose made 16 points in three wins, and seven draws had 12 goals for and nine against. In all those games, they didn’t score a goal just in one match, against the Whitecaps, in a 0:0 tie.
Take a look at the undefeated games below:
- Minnesota 2:2 San Jose
- Colorado 1:1 San Jose
- Kansa City 1:1 San Jose
- San Jose 1:1 Houston
- Seattle 0:1 San Jose
- Portland 1:1 San Jose
- San Jose 2:1 LAFC
- San Jose 0:0 Vancouver
- San Jose 1:1 Minnesota
- LA Galaxy 1:2 San Jose
But the undefeated streak is not enough to think about the playoffs. If they want to, they will have to improve the victories number in the regular season.
Despite the last results, the Quakes has many draws that are embarrassing to add more points. Besides Vancouver with eight draws, they are the team with more ties in the conference, behind Houston Dynamo, with 10.
