Rapid Wien vs Salzburg for the Austrian Bundesliga championship match on Friday at Allianz Stadium.
In the only game on Friday, referring to the match that will start the new edition of the Austrian championship of the 19/20 season, between Rapid Vienna and Salzburg.
The home team heads to this first match of the 2019/2020 Bundesliga of Austria after finishing last season in the Europa League access zone, having failed to win the playoffs, losing to Sturm Graz. Thus, this season, the team seeks to do better compared to the previous one.
As for Salzburg, they will enter this matchday of Bundesliga of Austria first round after being crowned (and again with great ease too) champion of their country, with a significant advantage over the other contestants. Also a remarkable offensive record, with many goals imposed on several opponents clearly dominating offensive and possession football.
The Austrian league is, or at least it has been for the last few seasons, one of the European football championships that have scored the most goals, having many similarities in this level with the German championship, although of course without the same quality because the size of the teams does not compare, and the quality of the players is very different between them.
Still, it’s a fact that there is a tendency to be more effective ahead than behind, and I hope to see this going on in this new season, particularly in this match where we have by far the most reliable team in the league, Salzburg, and a Rapid Vienna that also has some quality players (though probably no longer the team it was a few decades ago).
