Olympiakos vs Basaksehir for the Champions League qualification match on Tuesday at Karaiskakis Stadium.
Scoring against Olympiakos has not been an easy task this season 2019/2020. The team has made three official matches and has not yet had its nets shaken. All games were for the Champions League qualifiers.
In the third phase, the Greeks were 0-0 with Plzen in the Czech Republic, in a game where they didn’t even hit a kick in the direction of the opposing goal. They were saved by excellent defensive performance. In the return match, their attack went off, and the qualification was obtained with the 4-0 defeat.
Against Basaksehir, the strategy was a bit bolder. Although still based their game on the defensive system, Olympiakos had a bit more offensive action with ten attempts at finishing, being four of them scored. Masouras put the decisive ball into the net 10 minutes into the final stage.
Basaksehir even had a chance to reduce the damage in the first leg. In the extra-time of the final second half, they had a penalty kick in their favour. However, midfielder Edin Visca missed the shot.
It will not be the only damage to be dealt with in the clash this Tuesday. A little earlier, 35 minutes into the 2nd half, fellow midfielder Irfan Kahveci was sent off after receiving the second yellow card. He’s out of the match in Greece as he will have to comply with the automatic suspension.
As with Olympiakos, which is exclusively dedicated to the Champions League playoffs since the Greek Championship has not started, Basaksehir has not yet started the Turkish Championship. Will make their debut on Sunday, August 18th, away from home, against Yeni Malatyaspor.
With the advantage secured and having the advantage of being able to play counterattacks in their domains, Olympiakos have a new success prediction against Basaksehir as the best guess for Tuesday’s return to the fourth round matchday.
