Nordsjaelland vs Esbjerg for the Danish Superligaen championship match on Sunday at Farum Park Stadium.
Nordsjaelland had a very consistent season in 2018-2019, finishing sixth at the end of the season. In their last eleven games of the season, they have won only twice, drawn four and lost five times. Throughout the season, Nordsjaelland at home has won six of their eighteen games.
Nordsjaelland had an excellent start to the season, where they won away in the opening game against Horsens with a comfortable 3-0 win. However, things did not go well in their second game, in which they were defeated 2-1 with Midtjylland. In fact, in this game, they can only blame themselves, as they were far from convincing.
The hosts still need to be tested at home, as they will make their first game before their fans. We can say that the team was in better form at home than when they played away last season.
Esbjerg had a season very similar to Nordsjaelland, finishing fifth with thirty-eight points. However, when the championship came to an end, they increased their form and placed third in the standings.
Away from home, Esbjerg usually goes through some difficulties, with ups and downs during the championship. They have won three of their last five away league games but have lost six of their previous seven games. Esbjerg did not start very well this season, the team lost 1-0 against Midtjylland in their last league game, and they have now four games without a win.
In this match pressure is on their side as they have not yet achieved a positive result away from home. This season the men coached by coach John Lammers in competitive games are having some difficulty finding their way to the goal. Essingba, Mikkelsen and Dirks Riis all seem to be out of this game due to physical problems.
It seems to me that it will be a very balanced match, but I think the outsiders have the quality to make a good result.
