New York City FC vs New York Red Bulls for the Major League Soccer championship match on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.
The New York City derby is played early Sunday when NY City hosts the Red Bulls in the Bronx.
New York City
They are in third place on the leaderboard, just four points behind leaders of their conference, Atlanta United, although NY City currently is two games behind.
Brazilian Heber leads the team with 12 goals, followed by Valentin Castellanos who has scored five goals and three assists in the team’s last 10 games at the age of 20.
NY City wants to continue their good campaign as they have not lost in their last 10 games. The team will have several losses in this game, all for injury, and will not play Ebenezer Ofori, James Sands, Joe Scally and Ismael Tajouri.
The best players in the team are Daniel Royer and Brian White. The first has nine goals and five assists for his team, while White already has three in the last 10 games.
Two of their players will not play the match due to injury: Florian Valot, Brian White.
Their biggest problem is perhaps the defence. They have conceded three or more goals in five of the last seven away matches.
It is the second game between them this season. The first time was a win for Red Bull 2-1 in July. Red Bulls haven’t beaten New York City in the last four times they visited the Bronx, meaning they haven’t won at their rival’s house since 2015.
At home, NY City is dominant. This season they scored 23 goals and received only 11. They only lost once at their stadium when they fell 0-1 against Portland.
