Montenegro vs Kosovo, Friday’s match for the qualifying round, Group A, for the EURO 2020 Qualifiers, at the Podgorica City stadium.
Montenegro did not start anything in the qualifiers for Euro 2020, with the team drawing a draw against Bulgaria and suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat by England in Podgorica.
The Montenegrins are now looking forward to their first win in this competition, and in this game with Kosovo on Friday night they will have some chances to do so.
Montenegro’s selection after a 5-1 defeat by England increased to four games (three losses and a draw) the unsuccessful sequence that begun in the Nations League. Now it faces Kosovo and the Czech Republic in July.
At the moment the team has only one point in the standings, England are favorites to win first place in Group A, but second place is open to any of the other teams. Captain Stevan Joveti can’t play this match due to injury.
Kosovo just played a game of their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw with Bulgaria, and this new Kosovo squad has not lost since August 2017 when it ended its campaign in the qualifiers of the Russia World Cup 2018 suffering a 2-0 defeat by Iceland.
They didn’t get a place in the World Cup, but started their structuring and with a good record, as they go in an undefeated series of twelve games (eight wins and four draws).
This formation managed to win within this period of time the group 3, League D of the Nations League guaranteeing access to the Third Division of the next edition.
Herolind Shala, Hekuran Kryeziu and Valon Berisha are on the team’s injury list. But, Florent Hadergjonaj, Ibrahim Dreševic, Mirlind Kryeziu, Ylldren Ibrahimaj and Florent Hasani were selected.
