Midtjylland vs Rangers for the Europa League qualifying match on Thursday at MCH Arena Stadium.
Midtjylland have started their season on a positive vibe at the national level and are currently one of only two teams with all wins, as is FC Copenhagen. The squad, in its last four games, has adopted a very positive stance, scoring five goals and suffering only for one occasion.
Denmark’s proper position in the UEFA Europa League organizers allowed Midtjylland not to play in the previous rounds. This advantage allowed them to prepare this season in a more appropriate way. And it shows on their good form, as they now have four consecutive wins, but only one game was out of their stadium.
Kenneth Andersen’s men don’t usually score many goals, but they often keep their defence very solid. Erik Sviatchenko is the most consistent defender at Midtjylland while Junior Brumado remains the most significant reference in the attack, although he has not scored goals in the last four games.
The Rangers are making a great start to the season, leading nine straight games unbeaten, with seven wins and two draws. The outsiders in the previous round beat Luxembourg’s Progres Niederkorn with a record of a draw and a win.
The Rangers do not have a totally successful season, but almost. Although the team is motivated, this clash on Thursday will not be easy. On the other hand, Steven Gerrard’s men, given the way Rangers have been playing in their travels, seem more than likely to have a positive result.
Striker Alfredo Morelos has failed to score goals in the last three games, but the Colombian is still expected to remain in first eleven. Concerning Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic should also be prominent and be partners in defense of Rangers who suffered only once in their last four games.
The Danes have been very strong in their games, and the home factor makes my prediction for Midtjylland’s success.
