LASK Linz vs Basel for the Champions League qualification match on Tuesday at Linzer Stadium.
Despite having been strongly tipped to take the lead, Basel was taken aback in their first encounter with LASK Linz at home with the final score 2-1 in favour of the Austrian side.
The hosts have two crucial away goals, meaning even a draw on Tuesday would be enough for them to reach the finals. Basel has a lot to do and will have to bring their best game to Linz if they want to change things before it’s too late.
However, LASK has proven harder to win at home lately and prepares to be favourite to take the ticket to the next round.
The home team was unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions. The team also have not tasted defeat in their previous three home games and accumulated ten goals in their performance.
The visitors already have a one-goal deficit and will have to score at least two goals to keep their hopes of advancing to the next round. However, LASK has been very enthusiastic in keeping with their defensive duties in their last two games and have won without being broken on both occasions.
Also, Basel’s last trip out in this same competition made them succumb to a 3-2 scoreboard against PSV at the end of the ninety minutes.
Basel has been a threat attacking in all of their previous departures and found the bottom of the net at least twice in their last three trips. Clearly, it is a decisive game that forces the favourite team to score at least two goals, resulting in a game with many goals.
My bet is over 2.5 goals.
