Jamaica qualified for this phase, surprisingly with no defeat. The Jamaicans in their last game against the USA won 1-0 in a friendly match. Jamaica won Group C of the Gold Cup, started with a 3-2 victory against Honduras, then the Reggae Boys drew 0-0 against El Salvador and 1-1 against Curacao.
In their last game held, head coach Whitmore put most of their best players to the starting eleven against Panama in the quarter-finals, where Jamaica won 1-0. In this game, Jamaica was defensively very consistent.
With players like Leon Bailey, Darren Mattocks and Devon Williams Jamaicans are a happy team, with a mix of rhythm and talent, although in the attack they need to improve their performance. There may well be some changes in the Reggae Boyz team, as they will face a very talented opponent.
The United States managed to reach this stage only with victories, although many people expected the United States of America to thrash Curacao in the quarter-finals of the Gold Cup, they only won with a minimum advantage against a team that for the first time in history managed to reach this stage of qualification.
The US wants to continue with this winning wave and has enough quality to reach the final. Pulisic is the team’s main highlight, the Chelsea player has played with some freedom and is very involved in the attack of the Americans.
The US played with the best eleven in their last game, so no change is expected.
Jamaica has shown that it has quality, particularly in its defence, and should not change its strategy much. The United States must take the initiative of the game on the pursuit of victory. However, I bet both will score goals.
