Istanbul Basaksehir vs Olympiacos for the Champions League qualifying match on Wednesday at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium.
Basaksehir failed to win the title, despite having commanded most of the season, the team gave in at the end to rival Galatasaray, and to add to the desperation of the Turks they lost direct qualification for the Champions League.
The team failed to do so because their attack scored forty-nine goals, while Galatasaray scored seventy goals. Their defence was the best in the Turkish league, only conceded twenty-two goals, his rival conceded thirty-six.
In this game, the Turks will have the advantage of playing in Istanbul, which is always hell, as Turkish fans are known to be a very frantic crowd. Besides, Basaksehir is a strong home team, having a long run of eleven games in front of their fans at the end of last season without losing. The team got sixty-seven points (nineteen wins, ten draws and five losses), two less than Galatasaray.
The Greek side, unlike the Turks, scored seventy-one goals and conceded only seventeen goals in the Greek league. This strikingly defensive mark is mainly because its league is weaker competitively compared to that of the Turkish Super League.
The Greeks are in good shape, the team no longer lose for eighteen games in all competitions, (twelve win and six draws), this series of results coming from the previous season. Olympiacos have not started the Greek Championship yet. However, they have entered international competitions, where they have faced Plzen of the Czech Republic, eliminating them and have qualified for this stage.
The Turks are powerful when they play at home in front of their fans, but with caution because the Greeks are in an excellent series of results. I believe it will be a game where victory can be for either team. However, I feel more on the Greek side.
