This weekend saw another full set of fixtures across the major leagues in the world.
Coutinho finally back: Coutinho seems to have settled down nicely at Bayern Munich which must be puzzling for the Barca fans.
Also, 2 clubs in top divisions maintain a 100% winning record, plus other talking points from the weekend.
But first, Philippe Coutinho…
Coutinho off and running at Bayern – Influence rating 5 / 5
Following his huge transfer fee to Barcelona over 18 months from Liverpool, Phillipe Coutinho must’ve thought he had the world at his feet – how wrong could he have been!?
The Nou Camp faithful never took to Coutinho, perhaps partly due to his lack of form which then saw him move on a season-long loan to German giants Bayern Munich.
Having started his last two games for Bayern, Coutinho has wasted no time in settling down and now has one assist and two goals to his name.
Bayern Munich’s next match is at home to Hoffenheim and we’re expecting Coutinho to hold the key and adding to his scoring tally for the season.
Inter Milan make it 6 from 6 – Influence rating 5 / 5
It was a summer of change for Inter Milan. An ex-Premier League manager took the reigns and two Man Utd ‘flops’ signed in a bid to take the dominance of Serie A away from Juventus.
With 6 games gone in the league so far, Inter has won all of them, and are one of only two teams in the top European leagues to maintain a 100% winning streak.
Next up for them, the biggest game of the season, Juventus at home – just how far have this Milan team come so far this season?
We’re predicting a tight encounter, but cannot see Inter coming out of the game without any points.
Real Madrid top the table – Influence rating 4 / 5
Much of the talk this season coming out of Real Madrid has either been about Gareth Bale or Zinedine Zidane – but for all the wrong reasons.
Zidane appearing wanted rid of Bale, but due to injuries to a host of players, Bale is now considered one of the key men for Real Madrid.
Following his big summer move from Chelsea, Eden Hazard has also struggled for form, so it does come as a major surprise that Real Madrid actually top La Liga.
Next up for the Madrid giants are Granada, who sit second in the table. We’re however predicting Real to finally find top gear and sweep them aside and score a few goals.
Liverpool leave it late but keep on winning – Influence rating – 4 / 5
Last season saw one of the best title races ever, with Liverpool being pipped at the post by Man City. Many would’ve thought that that was Liverpool’s best-ever chance to win the Premier League.
Fast forward 2 months and to the start of the 2019/2020 season and Liverpool are top with a 5 point gap over Man City and maintain a 100% winning record from their opening 7 fixtures – largely thanks to a huge error from the Sheffield United keeper which saw Liverpool win by a one-goal margin in the closing stages of that game.
Next up for Liverpool is a visit from high flying Leicester who isn’t to be underestimated. The game is at Anfield which is a fortress, however, Liverpool’s defence has been shaky and Jamie Vardy has found his scoring boots for the visitors.
We predict Liverpool to continue their winning record, but for this game to have goals.
Carlos Vela equals MLS record – Influence rating 5 / 5
Following claims from ‘The Lion’, Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he is the best player in the MLS, Vela has continued in his bid to prove that he is actually the best by equalling the MLS scoring record to net his 31st of the season.
With one game to go and Los Angeles at home, we’re predicting Carlos Vela will break the record and score anytime and helps his team to victory against Colorado.
