Haugesund vs PSV Eindhoven for the Europa League qualifying match on Thursday at Haugesund Stadium.
Haugesund vs PSV for Europa League 1st leg match. I believe Thursday’s game will be exciting, where visitors will eventually win at the Haugesund Stadion.
Haugesund, or the Arabs, as they call them in Norway, are in a series of two no-win games. After the defeat to Sturm Graz, they drew with Stabaek in the most recent game. Despite a 2-1 loss to Sturm Graz in the second leg, their 2-0 opening win was more than enough to secure a place at this stage.
However, they faced significantly weaker teams than PSV, and I don’t expect to see them bothered on Thursday night. I believe the Dutch team will achieve an easy win.
On the other hand, PSV has finished their Champions League qualifying campaign to be here today. Despite winning in the first match against Basel, they lost in the second and were eliminated because of the away goal rule. In all honesty, I think they deserved more than the Swiss club.
Despite elimination, they are required to start attacking from the initial minutes. In the previous Basel clash, for example, they fired 16 shots. Still, only 1 managed to cross the finish line.
Arabs are facing many injury-related problems. Also, 3 of their players are required to stay out of next match. Finding a way to replace Alexander Stolas will prove to be problematic. The 30-year-old midfielder was one of the pillars of coach Jostein Grindhaug’s squad.
PSV completed 3 significant transfers during the summer transfer window. They brought VfB Stuttgart’s Timo Baumgartl to improve their options on the back row, while Bruma and Olivier Boscagli should further strengthen their left flank.
The first confrontation between these clubs will be exciting to watch and bet. After reviewing their latest games and available lists, I can safely say that this case will be a high score for PSV.
