The Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics are making a competition apart this season in MLB. Despite the league, they are fighting in each game for the West American League first place.
While the Astros has 68 wins and 46 losses, the A’s have 66 wins and 48 losses. Just two wins separated both, which is the closer difference between a first and second place in a division from the AL.
Led by Jose Altuve, with 82 runs and 25 Home Runs, Houston is the team with more runs at all the season among the other 29 teams, and it can be an advantage.
In 114 games, they have 614 runs scored, resulting in 5,3 per game and 456 against (4 per game). But the last ten games streak was not so good for them, with five wins and five losses.
On the other hand, Oakland had won eight matches of the last ten ones and is getting closer to the first position. In the same 114 games, they have 507 runs scored (4,4 per game) and 442 against (3,8 per game), resulting in the lowest number at the American League, behind Chicago White Sox, with 439 runs against.
Despite this run for the division, the run for the Wild Card is also very closed. If the regular season has ended today, Athletics and Red Sox, both with 66 wins, would get the two Wild Card spots in the AL. But the New York Yankees, with 63 wins, are also aiming for the same goal.
