The MLS regular season has ended. With 13 games last Sunday, 7, some teams have enough reasons to celebrate a spot at the playoffs in the MLS, while other ones were eliminated and got disappointed.

With the results, six franchises from each conference were clinched at Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, and two will go straight to the conference semi-finals.

New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids finished in the first place. At the same time, Seattle Sounders, Kansas City, Portland Timbers, Minnesota United, Vancouver Whitecaps, Real Salt Lake, Philadelphia Union, Nashville, New York City, Atlanta United, Orlando City, and New York Red Bulls will play the Round One.

The teams in the second, third and fourth place can play at home in Round One, and the first-placed will wait for the winner in the match between the fourth and fifth place from both conferences.

Take a look at the bracket below:

  • (4º) Portland x Minnesota (5º)
  • (3º) Kansas x Vancouver (6º)
  • (2º) Seattle x Salt Lake (7º)

  • (4º) NY City x Atlanta (5º)
  • (3º) Nashville x Orlando (6º)
  • (2º) Philadelphia x NY Red Bulls (7º)

With the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers break, the first playoffs game will be only 11 days ahead, on November 20. According to Bovada, New England Revolution is the favorite to be the Champion this season, with +330 odds, followed by Colorado Rapids, with +450 odds, and Seattle Sounders, with +600 odds.

Last week

As we wrote some days ago, ten franchises started the last week still with chances to clinch a spot at the playoffs. In the Eastern Conference, Atlanta and Orlando did the expected for going to the postseason.

Atlanta faced the Eliminated Cincinnati at TQL Stadium and had a great comeback win. Bailey scored for the home team, and Robinson and Martínez made for Atlanta in the second half. They didn’t get the home field advantage just because New York City tied against Philadelphia at Yankee Stadium (1 – 1).

In the other main game, deciding which one will be clinched was better for Orlando, which defeated Montréal at Stade Saputo by 2 – 0 (Méndez and Dike scored). If Montréal had won, they would get the place of their rival.

The seventh place stayed for the Red Bulls. A draw against Nashville at Nissan Stadium was enough for going to the playoffs. If they had lost this challenge, the place would go for the D.C., which won the Toronto, on Canada, by 3 – 1.

On the West, Vancouver tied the game against Seattle (1 – 1) at home, and Minnesota tied against LA Galaxy in Los Angeles (3 – 3), and it was enough to clinch both franchises. If the Galaxy had won, they would get the position ahead.

To complete, Salt Lake defeated Kansas City, by 1 – 0, at Children’s Mercy Park. Kreilach scored, in the end, to put the franchise in seventh place, and guarantee a position in the postseason.
