The current first place and the great advantage on the top are not enough for the PSG supporters. Beyond irregular performances, the team is getting used to having bad results.
PSG tied four of the past five games on Ligue 1, and despite the first place, the bad results are bothering the betters since they have the best team from France and create expectations for everybody. Paris is first, with 47 points – eleven above Nice and Olympique de Marseille, with 36.
In the last opportunity, the result could have been even worst. Lucas Paqueta scored first for Lyon, and the defensor Thilo Kehrer tied the game only in the last 15 minutes.
Paris is also getting used to having matches with fewer goals. All the last five on Ligue 1 were under 2.5 goals – very different from the season beginning when they often scored over 2.5 goals.
Considering the last five opportunities, PSG scored only three goals and had five against. Take a look at the past results below:
- Lyon 1 x 1 PSG
- Lorient 1 x 1 PSG
- PSG 2 X 0 Monaco
- Lens 1 X 1 PSG
- PSG 0 X 0 Nice
They still have the best offense, with 40 goals in 20 games, averaging two per match, but in the previous opportunities, they aren’t producing, showing the team is missing Neymar’s and Lionel Messi’s absence.
Kylian Mbappe is the team’s striker, with nine goals (fourth in the league), followed by Mauro Icardi, with only four. Jonathan David led the league in this stat, with 12.
But the bad streak in the league has good chances to be finished, with Paris recovering. The following two challenges will be at Parc des Princes, against two teams under 10th place.
But if Paris has a huge advantage in the league even with the past results not so good, a more significant challenge is coming in the next month.
The Round of 16 from UEFA Champions League, against Real Madrid, starts in February. Until that challenge, PSG has five games for preparing, but for a while, the favorite for the win in the first match is the French, according to Bovada, with -105 odds.
