The history of Bet365
Denise Coates is the co-CEO of Bet365, one of the largest online betting companies in the world, along with her billionaire brother, John.
She began by gaining experience as an accountant, before taking over several of her family betting shops, that she later sold to the bookmaker Coral.
She currently owns about half of Bet365, a privately held company that handles more than $ 65 billion in bets per year.
According to an article in the British newspaper, The Guardian, Denise Coates took home more than a third of the company’s annual profit in record wages.
She paid herself £ 265 million in 2017, in a record payment deal for a chief executive of any British company.
Also, she collected dividend payments of £ 45 million from her more than 50% stake in the company.
The Salary of Denise Coates
Her salary is more than 9,500 times the UK average salary, 1,700 times that of the Prime Minister and more than double what she paid for the entire Stoke City football team that Bet365 owns.
The payout to Denise Coates is also 27 times greater than that earned by Tim Cook, chief executive of Apple, the most valuable company in the world.
