Costa Rica vs Nicaragua, Monday’s match for CONCACAF Gold Cup, Group B, at the National Stadium of Costa Rica, in La Sabana Metropolitan Park, San José, Costa Rica.
In the only game this Monday, which refers to the first day of the group stage of the 2019 Gold Cup, group B, plays the national team of Costa Rica and the team of Nicaragua.
The Costa Rican team arrives at this inaugural game of the 2019 Gold Cup knowing they will play several games in front of their own fans, considering that it is one of the countries organizing this CONCACAF competition.
The team seeks, with the support of their compatriots, to regain this competition (something that would happen for the 4th time, if it will in fact happen, after the team triumphed in 1989, 1969 and 1963).
Coming from one of their best recent performances, in 2017, where they reached the semi-final round, being placed 3rd in the tournament.
The national team of Nicaragua enters this meeting of the Gold Cup for their first match since their last participation in the last edition of this competition in 2017, where they didn’t pass the group stage and only with defeats, 1 goal and suffered 7.
Returning to mark presence in the most important competition of national teams of their continent, this will be their 5th participation in this tournament of CONCACAF, and the best that the team achieved in its history was a 6th place in the remote year of 1967.
With Costa Rica having a great opportunity here to win again in this tournament, breaking a stalemate that lasted for almost 30 years, with the house factor (something that tends to be almost synonymous with high odds of winning tournaments) and before a team from Nicaragua that is, along with Haiti, the less capable team of this group B.
Having much higher quality and development of football compared to their opponent, I think we will have a loose victory of the home team and a match with some goals scored.
