Chelsea vs Arsenal, Wednesday’s match for the Europa League final in Baku.
Chelsea vs. Arsenal for the Europa League final in Baku. Arsenal and Chelsea play a London derby in Baku.
After starting the season so strongly, Chelsea seemed to be a club in crisis during the dark winter months. A series of bad results put Maurizio Sarri under increasing pressure, and the situation finally peaked in the Carabao Cup final, with goalkeeper Kepa refusing to be replaced in extra time.
Somehow, this really seemed to help Sarri. They may have missed the final, but the petulance of Kepa saw the support in Sarri rekindle, and the results soon followed. Chelsea lost only two games since the final, winning 10 times in that period.
Unfortunately, Chelsea seems to have suffered a drop in form at the end of the season. They failed to win in five of their last six games with a penalty shoot-out to go through Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals and not beat Leicester on the final day of the Premier League season.
Arsenal also had their problems with Unai Emery this season. They lost a series of consecutive league games in April and finished out of the top four. All their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League are now in this final, but fortunately for them, have a specialist of the Europa League in charge.
Unai Emery won the competition three times with Sevilla between 2014 and 2016, making him the most successful coach of all time in this competition. This season he led Arsenal to 11 wins in 14 European League matches, including impressive victories at home and away against Valencia and Napoles.
One thing that cannot be ignored is his defensive record away from the Emirates, the Gunners have conceded 31 goals in their last 18 away games, and combined with their high-scoring strike force, this has resulted in a few games with many goals. In fact, 20 of his 27 out-of-competition games this term have finished with at least three goals scored.
Chelsea is also not a stranger in high-scoring games, with seven of their last 10 European League games having at least three goals. Combining this with the fact that five of the last seven finals of the Europa League also had a high score, goal betting seems a good option.
My bet is over 0.5 in the 1st half.
