Caracas vs Liverpool Tuesday’s showdown for the second round of the Copa Sudamericana.
It wasn’t the most encouraging last test of Caracas before the match of this Tuesday. On Saturday, May 25, out of their domains, the team was beaten by Zulia, 3-2, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the playoffs of the Futve League Opening Tournament, the first round of the Venezuelan Championship.
Just as happened in the Copa Sudamericana, they will have to seek to reverse the disadvantage in the match at home. It is scheduled for June 3.
They have the advantage of playing at home with a better campaign in the qualifying phase, where they finished in second place with 35 points.
They campaign at home, however, showed inferior performance. The ranking that only considers the results that the teams obtain in their stadiums places the Caracas in the fourth position.
Out of the 30 points that the team of the capital played in its stadium they managed to conquer 21.
Liverpool won a “gift” from the Uruguayan Federation. Their match for the fourteenth round of the Uruguayan Championship, due to be played over the weekend against Cerro CA, was postponed to June 5. In this way, the team had the free week to prepare for Tuesday’s meeting in Caracas.
With 18 points, Liverpool, who eliminated Bahia in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana, is ranked ninth in the Uruguayan Championship.
They are 13 points behind Peñarol. It has, of course, one less game than the vast majority of their rivals.
Performance in visitor condition is slightly higher. When only the results of the 16 teams that participate in the elite division of Uruguay’s football are counted, Liverpool has the eighth best campaign.
Out of the 18 points that were played as visitors, they returned home with only seven.
A goal in the 44 minutes of the second half decided the first match. The second game should have a little more movement since the owners of the house will seek to score from the beginning.
The home factor makes the prognostic in Caracas’s success against Liverpool is the best guess, in this Tuesday’s showdown for the second round of the Copa Sudamericana.
