Belarus vs Northern Ireland, Tuesday’s game for the qualifying round, Group C, for the EURO 2020 Qualifiers, in the Borisov Arena stadium in Barysaw.
As expected, Belarus failed to bother Germany in their previous 2-0 defeat during the weekend. The home-team with this defeat almost shattered their hopes of qualifying for the Euro 2020.
The Belarusians should have little confidence before this game against Northern Ireland. Belarus is in the opposite position that their opponents, having lost all three of their games so far and Northern Ireland lead the group after winning all three matches.
The Belarus nation lost to Germany, the Netherlands and Northern Ireland 2-1 in March, having conceded eight goals in the last three games, but despite being in the bottom of their group, they can still play in the playoffs because of their performance in the UEFA Nations League. Facing Belarus, they met only once before this game and lost.
The Green and White Army, as it is called this national team, won outside their country to Estonia by 2-1, with the team to maintain their route totally victorious in Group C. Northern Ireland is a much more confident selection than Belarus at the moment and I think they can take advantage of the good stage they are going through.
Northern Ireland has beaten Belarus and Estonia twice to run their group. Although Northern Ireland has a very good start in this competition, everything points to the fact that it is the German team to beat in this group, but in any case the Irish will do everything to fight the Germans.
This will be a very complicated challenge for Northern Ireland, the Belarusians want to get out of the less good situation they find themselves in, and that is why I think this game should be very interesting to follow.
I believe the home team will start the game in an offensive way, and with the support of its audience, it will be tricky for Northern Ireland. With more or less difficulty the three points should stay at home.
