Barcelona vs Valencia, Saturday’s match for the Copa del Rey Final.
Barcelona vs Valencia – Copa del Rey Final
This weekend sees the long-awaited end of the Copa del Rey between Barcelona and Valencia.
The Catalans intend to win two consecutive victories under the command of coach Ernesto Valverde, winning this coveted competition alongside the La Liga title.
After returning to the top of the Spanish first division this season, Barça is one of the favorites for the conquest this weekend.
Saturday’s big showdown in Seville will complete a successful season for Barcelona, although their league campaign has been massively helped by Real Madrid’s chaotic performance.
With Los Blancos expected to invest this summer, La Liga’s competitiveness is expected to return in the next season, which means Barça need to fully capitalize on their chance to win titles.
Barcelona has been emphatic in the Copa del Rey in recent seasons, winning the competition four times in the last four years.
Valverde’s men have already won the two main domestic competitions in Spain this season, despite their shortcomings in Europe.
Winning the triple would certainly end the gaps and regain confidence after the humiliation of the club by Liverpool in April.
With Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele both injured, confidence in Lionel Messi will again be heavy for the Barça team.
However, as usual, if the Argentine is in shape – as most of the time – the rest of the team need not be very decisive.
Last weekend’s clash against Eibar was basically used as a training match in preparation for this weekend’s match but it was not easy as Barça had to rely on Messi to draw 2-2 at the Municipal Stadium of Ipurúa.
However, they will face strong opposition, as Valencia finished in 4th place in the Spanish League this season and comes to this meeting with three successive victories.
Barcelona, on the other hand, won only one of their four previous matches in all competitions, with the collapse against Liverpool in the Champions League last month, which caused a huge drop in their campaign.
The Valencia team, in the games against Barcelona this season, drew 2-2 with the Catalans in February. Once again it was Messi who stood out after Valencia scored two goals at half-time, but what this game told us is that Los Che definitely has the ability to create some difficulties this weekend.
Probably will be a first contentious part, in which, if there is a goal, it will make a second part more interesting and with goals.
