Atalanta vs Torino for the Italian Serie A championship match on Sunday at Ennio Tardini Stadium.
Atalanta and Torino meet tomorrow at Atleti Azzurri d’Italia Stadium, home of Atalanta, which comes to this season intending to try to repeat the great feat achieved in the last season when they finished in the top four, gaining a place in the group stage of the Champions League.
Playing away from home we have Torino who comes to second round already with more pace as they played the qualifiers for the Europa League, being eliminated by the Wolves.
As has been said before Atalanta accomplished a significant achievement in the last season by being in the top four and consequently qualifying for the Champions League, something unheard of in the club’s history.
This is a team that has been improving a lot in recent times and this year comes back in strength having not lost many players and more importantly keeping the same coach of the last season, Gian Piero Gasperini.
Something that I consider essential for this game but that does not change my opinion much is the fact that the game is played on Parma’s ground as the Atalanta team has the stadium under remodelling and cannot play there.
Torino comes to the second round after being eliminated by Wolves from the Europa League, somewhat tired and still in the “hangover” of elimination that could weigh on the players.
From what I have seen from Torino matches this seems to me like a team that, although it has several quality players in the squad, has not played great football and its most significant danger is in set pieces.
I did not like what I have seen so far from the Torino team and playing away after a Europa League match midweek I think they should have a lot of difficulties against Atalanta even though the game being played in Parma.
