Anderlecht vs KV Mechelen for Belgium First Division A championship match on Friday at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
Next Friday, 9th August 2019, Anderlecht and KV Mechelen face each other for a match for round 3 of the Jupiler League (Belgium). The game has its kick-off at 19:30 at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium (Anderlecht).
Mechelen is a newcomer to this league and, contrary to widespread expectations, they are 100% successful so far. Just on the last day of the season, they suffered a crushing defeat against one of the Jupiler League’s top teams, Genk, with a 3-1 result.
They hope to keep up the good results but may fall in a hard reality considering their opponents’ stature. The former second division side is not only at a disadvantage, but they also face the well known Anderlecht’s.
A great club, however, the season is not going well considering they are without wins so far in the competition. I believe the hosts will be even angrier and more focused on success.
Clashes between the two teams
Nine of the last twelve wins have gone to Anderlecht.
Eight of the last nine matches both teams scored goals.
Mechelen has no victories in this venue so far.
Anderlecht has had a run of ten league wins in home matches.
The hosts are going through one of the toughest stages right now. The team are without wins this season in the league and can’t afford another fail to their list.
If they want to get rid of their complacency and return to their undefeated forms, this match would be the perfect opportunity for it. They have the home advantage and are taking on a relatively inexperienced Mechelen who has just been promoted from the lower division.
Also, the hosts have an unbeaten record against this opponent and have even recorded nine of their last 12 head-to-head wins.
As such, I expect a home win this Friday. But given their lousy form at the moment, and the fact that they are fighting defensively, supporting the BTTS option should bring good returns.
